I am not a woman. Even then I dare answer to your question.
Please remove from your mind the very idea of being 'upper hand' or 'lower hand' among husband and wife. Otherwise you shall never be able to enjoy harmony in married life. Satisfaction and happiness of the spouse before self is the formula for happy married life.

Neither one of us really has the upper hand... we make decisions together. I wouldn't be married to someone who needed to be like that... it's so silly. Why should a man get to make all the decisions and have the "upper hand?"

I'd love to have an equal hand, but honestly I think I'm the one with the upper hand. It stinks since the responsibility tends to end with me...

No, and neither do I. We share in the responsibilities. He has his and I have mine. Where I am weak he is strong and vise verse, That is how it should go. No one will ever rule me, and I would never rule anyone. "The Upper Hand", is like your daddy or the law or something. Hell no, that is not a marriage.

Right now he does. But I guess it's to be seen when we're together. HOpefully it's gonna be hand in hand.

We discuss our issues, I tell him my concerns, he tells me his problems and one of us comes up with a conclusion. If the other one does not agree we pray about it and turn the situation over to the Lord.

Works everytime!

You should have an equal relationship, not one where only the one partner is the boss and what they says goes, as this sort of relationship will eventually die of a slow death.
