I ask because News and Events has become a minefield just lately.
Too many intelligent people are becoming sucked in by theories and sob stories and propoganda.

I just want to say, be a bit more cynical people, dont believe everything you read nor every story you hear. Not everyone is genuine and some can be very manipulative and clever. Trust your instincts.
I warn you because I myself fell victim to an internet stalker a few years back. all because I tried to help. And I consider myself fairly intelligent and savvy. I am a lot more wary now.
Remember Y/A is a bit of fun, its NOT real life.
How do you look after yourself online?

A bit of fun? Your answer to the question about Eden wasn't a bit of fun. Or perhaps it was to you. I have now blocked you because I don't find you interesting.

Good question Steph.

It's really easy for someone to sit at a pc and pretend to be something they aren't. I'm always conscious of this and always warning my kids about the dangers - they always say they know. I just try to follow their advice lol.

I try to ignore the bad stuff cos I am a good person.

I found myself blocked today by a user I've never even come across before. I've never called anyone, or stalked anyone - I felt quite insulted :(

"i could opt to comprehend in case you are able to comprehend why i've got faith what I do." After interpreting all of that, no, i don't. What do you base your theory in God, Jesus, and the sacrificial ingredient of Jesus death on? You suggested which you have not examine (and don't intend to verify) the Bible because of the fact it incredibly is unreliable, yet then you definately communicate approximately Jesus "saving your soul," that's a only Biblical theory. without the guidelines and punishments defined someplace else in the Bible, there replaced into not something for Jesus to "save" you from. Do you have some purpose standards for accepting areas of the Bible and rejecting others, or is it a count of flavor?

Yeah, I find myself getting pretty hot under the collar and have to remind myself it's just a bit of 'fun' !

I don't mind heated debate, difference of opinions etc but there has been a lot of personal stuff happening that is not so good.

So you're 'delectable' now are you Shambo ?! lol :-)

Hide behind my avator! Joking, although I really am that pretty! lol. I have a teenager and I am very wary of who she speaks to, she comes on Yahoo answers as it is so damned addictive but I have told her profile must stay private as is her bebo page. I take all comments with a pinch of salt, life is like that.

p.s i was lying about the pretty stuff earlier!

No. It's "Buyer Beware"- like everything ELSE in the Real World. Just take what you read with a grain of salt & a cube of sugar- and you'll be fine. (And as for those "theories & sob stories" - they have ALWAYS been with us...-only the Suckers are new, & more are born every minute). :)

That's very good advice, Steph, I trusted a couple of people, then realised they weren't anything like they were making themselves out to be. They enjoy picking on mothers with terminally ill children, Isn't that terrible? Aren't you just going "Those bas tards!"?

So yes, now I am very cynical, and I only trust my contacts. No offence to anyone else, I'm sure the majority of you are very genuine, decent people, but the QA site I left isn't the same one I've come back to, and I don't suffer fools gladly. (My God, that sounded old, didn't it? I'm only 32! Help!)

I don't believe in stupid people, I believe in the uneducated and ill-informed...

I think you have to understand that YA is used by people all over the world and as a result people with different backgrounds, views and beliefs... As a result there is bound to be friction!

I protect Myself with a wall of sarcasm and subtle humour. One guy asked what he should take to a dinner party, and I suggested a bottle of wine, and that he should ask his local off license for a bottle of chateau nouveau, a '79.

Q: How do you look after yourself online?
A: Plant my feet, seek truth, avoid the obnoxious and rude. Do not pretend, and do not reveal everything. Trust investigative journalism for sources, not msm.
