does anyone know any extended waranties aside from dealers?

Many credit unions offer a 'mechanical breakdown insurance' to cover repairs to vehicles once the original warranty expires. There products are truely insurance products and are offered to their members because the price is lower than the dealer offerings.

beyond that, there are no "extended warranties" or service contracts that I am aware of that are available for purchase outside of the dealership networks. That's because the issuer assumes a liability and because of the risk the contact company requires a vehicle inspection for pre-existing conditions (for vehicles other than new cars that are under warranty) before they agree to write the contract on the vehicle. Otherwise people who need a major repair such as a transmission could simply buy a service contract for half the price of the transmission and claim the repair under the service contract. That's why you won't find the contracts available at any place other than a dealer or credit union.

hope that answers your question
