This is on North Harlem Ave in Chicago. First of all the tried to get me to pay extra for all the stuff that "needs" to be serviced. They put 2 gaskets on my oil filter which started spraying oil all over the ground the moment they started the car. They put the wrong tire pressure which is clearly shown on the side of the door of every car! Stay away from this place. They will put whatever the want in your car instead of the right stuff. If you do go there, don't go sit at the waiting area. Be right next to your car and make sure they are doing the right things and ASK what are they doing.

Better yet, if you have a garage, change your own oil and filter. I don't have a garage so i have to deal with these monkeys.

Imagine I drove on the highway with the oil filter spraying my oil all over the place. My engine would've been severely damaged.

I decided to take the car to a local shop to have them redo the oil change and check for any more F-ups from jiffy idiots and this is what the guy found:

They didn't use the right oil filter and didn't cleaned the area where build up occurs. They put 6 quarts of oil instead of 5. The tire pressure that I had resquested was different on all 4 tires.

I'll never understand why people do not have a reputable new car dealer or independant mechanic change their oil. Far too many terrible shoddy mistakes are done.
This is exactly why I've done my own oil changes for 45 yrs. I let the motor drain for as long as I wish. My stomach turns everytime I think of a 1 minute drain or less. I choose the oil and filter. My personal tools fit the end of the filters and there is no mistakes with the gaskets.

I receiently saw a post on Yahoo where hidden cameras caught Giffy Lube employees totally skipping services people were paying for.

Yes, the sight of the Jiffy Lube sign makes me sick enough to vomit.

Jiffy Lube hires only mentally retarded people to work on cars. They're the biggest joke in the automotive repair field. Even tire jockeys are more talented than those jokers. Do your self a favor and go to a real shop. Have your tires rotated and your brakes checked, instead of ending up with scratched panels from some monkey with a screwdriver looking for a part that doesn't exist (my wife's car, I would have change the oil my self, but I had a busted collar bone at that time) with an excuse like "that's normal damage from servicing it" or like my friend who got power steering fluid instead of brake fluid in the master cylinder.

most jiffy lubes are not this bad but you have to remember they usually have people working there who know nothing about cars other than the on the job training they get. and plus they are all about quantity ( how fast they can do it) not quality. i had an experiance with a jiffy lube in raliegh north carolina . was traveling down south for 6 weeks went there to get my oil changed. the first time they said i had a sealed chassis which a 1985 chevy caprice does not have . the second time they only grased 8 grease fittings and the cra had 11 grease fittings. needless to say i have not been to a jiffy lube or any other quick change oil place since then and will not ever agian. i do it myself right in the driveway now

To be accurate, they didn't "put two gaskets" on your oil filter. When they removed the old oil filter its gasket stayed stuck to the engine block and they did not notice this when they put the new filter on. That's how "double gasketing" occurs. I'm not excusing it mind you because it should not have happened, just correcting the actual series of events.

Secondly, NEVER go to a quick-lube place if you actually want to maintain your vehicle. They don't do complete and thorough inspections nor do they have trained or certified mechanics capable of performing such inspections, just teenagers trained to inspect only those few things which they can service and sell.

First off, I used to work for Jiffy Lube and I quit because they are all terrible people who don't care about anyone besides themselves. And I'm NOT F**KING mentally retarded. Secondly, yes NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER take your car to Jiffy Lube. Yes, you MIGHT have a great experience, but NEXT time, you are gonna wish you went that extra 2 miles.Jiffy Lube is the McDonalds of the auto industry.I have seen them do that(the experience you described above)to someone else, even in my 2 months of employment.

Consider their employees and their backgrounds. Jeff's last job was tomtato slicer at Taco Bell. Miguel's last job was head leaf blower for a landscaper. And Jack's last place of employ was the license plate shop at prison. Now, they've been placed in charge of expertly lubing your second-most costly possession. An independent shop in your own neighborhood is usually a better(and more competent) bet.

After an oil change, the first thing I do before pulling out is to ensure there is actually oil in the engine.

Not all places are like that, it comes down to how the people were trained..... it is unfortunate that places like this hire people who lie and cant even change oil.... then mess up your car..... some pople at these places are not even certified at all.
