Not a good idea to start on sweets that young. All doctors say different things. With my son I had to wait until he was 6 months old (4.2 months corrected age) while his doctor started most of her patients on rice cereal at 4 months. Some doctors say to wait until 6 months for regular baby food. Talk to your baby's doctor about when he/she can have anything other than baby food.

I would wait. Sorbet is very sweet, even if it has no sugar in it. Your baby will get used to it. Plus, their system most likely is not ready for foods like that.

Between 4-6 months old, then you can start on rice cereal. Then move up from there. Ask your babies doctor what they recommend first, mine ended up giving a list of what to offer and when. I don't remember what the order was.

Also, remember babies tend to get allergies. So, only introduce one food to them at a time, and wait 3-5 days between. Just to make sure they tolorate them well.

No, only breast milk for 6-8 months! Then start on solid foods although I wouldn't advise sorbet to be the first thing you give you baby.

NO.

A 4 month old infant should be getting nothing except for breastmilk. If that is not an option for whatever reason, then formula should be used, and possibly a bit of plain water.

Even the simplest of baby foods should not be started until 6 months, let alone a sugar-laden, dairy (which isn't recommended until after a year of age) concoction !

What sort of crack are you on that you think giving a 4 month old processed crap sweetened with processed sugar is a good idea?

I waited until about 9 months to start with the dairy, just because their belly's arent ready for dairy right away. Too much dairy really upsets their stomachs.

It's hard to get your baby to eat anything else once they've had sweets - so I would introduce everything else first. Start with rice or oatmeal cereal, then pureed veggies, then pureed fruits.

No - they are only able to digest milk at such a young age. Wait until they are completely used to solids then you can introduce flavours to your baby.
