This is actually my brother inlaw's name. His parents pronounced it Ka-em, however others had trouble pronouncing it and his nickname became Chime, which is what the famaily and friends still call him. Through College and now work he always used his original spelling of Chaim and again people had trouble trying to pronounce or even guess how to pronounce it when they saw it written and also remembering, so he simply told them to pronounce it as Cam.

Chayyim (Hebrew: ×Ö·×Ö´Ö¼×× chayyÄ«m), also transcribed as Chaim, Hayim, or Haym, is a common praenomen among the Jewish people, especially during the Middle Ages. Chayyim is the Hebrew word for "life". In modern usage its secular parallel is "Henry".

I like the name Chaim. It was the name of a Jewish character in one of my favorite books. I don't know the correct pronunciation, but I say it like chain, but with an m instead of an n.

Rexecampbell, you're an idiot with no knowledge of names. There was no "misspelling". Chaim is Hebrew for "life" and it is pronounced Cha (the traditional "coughing something up sound") -Em.

Toilet paper. Not very pleasing to the ear. I'd pronounce it Khaiiiii-mm with a gutteral sound on the Ch.

I wonder what in the world the parents were thinking. I wonder what real name they misspelled to get the name Chaim. Kind of a cross between Charmin bathroom tissue and claiming something. YUCK. Please do not saddle your little boy with a name like this, it will haunt him all of his life.

A chain comes to mind and I would pronounce it C-ame or Ch-aim. I personally don't like this name.

The word SHAME comes to mind...but in all reality I would probably pronounce it as Sha-eem or Shy-eem.
