Sure it's a choice. People change their orientation all the time. Look at Anne Hetch as just one example.
We all have self determination. The actions we take are our choices. None of our actions are fixed, or predisposition by our birth.
We can chose to take a person to bed, or we can walk away. These are our choices.
However, if you claim that you can't help it, you were born that way, then you can avoid taking personal responsibility for your actions.

Scientific researchers who specialize in human sexuality have shown that homosexuality is linked to biology and genetics.
An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation.
Another scientific study said that researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, but the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families. Anthony F. Bogaert, Ph.D., professor at Brock University, said "The research suggests that the development of sexual orientation is influenced before birth."
The older-brother effect was constant regardless of whether the men were raised with natural, adopted or stepbrothers. It also didn't matter if they weren't raised with their biological mothers. If gay younger brothers and older brothers don't have the same home environments, what do they have in common? "They shared the same uterus, the same womb, the same mother," Bogaert said.

I don't think it's quite that simple.
I don't think it is a choice at all. We do not choose our attractions and I don't think anyone would choose to be treated the way homosexuals are.
However I also don't believe it quite as simple as 'born gay' because human sexuality is much more complex than that. I do believe there may be some genetic 'born' influence on our sexuality.

No-one chooses to be gay. With all the persecution over the centuries and even the death penalty, do you really think people choose to fall in love with someone of the same sex? I didn't choose to be gay, I always have been so as far as I am concerned I was born that way.

I think we all have a choice to be gay or not to be. I think the environment you grow up in and influences among your life provokes something within you. I think "gay" lies within us all. It's a matter of trying it. I think there are people in this world that lead a straight life and consider possibly trying the altnerative lifestyle but don't because they are afraid to.

no one is born gay or f a g g o t or queer or what ever you want to call it, it is a choice that a person makes when they have reached a point when the opposite sex is not able to satisfy there perverted nature.

It`s DEFINITELY a choice ! If you were born that way , then why have some homosexuals sought help and been cured of this abomination ?
Let`s face it , a small percentage of people are attracted to a perverted lifestyle . Sex is their whole life ! It`s all they think about ....................... sex with their own kind . Homosexuals are consumed by sex .
Normal sex becomes boring to the point of non-gratification , so they look at other options , the most popular of which is the sickening , perverted , sinful , disease-ridden life of the homosexual .
