The groom's mother doesn't have to give you anything let alone money nor does anyone else really. People gift what they want and if they want including family members.

She doesn't she have to give you anything. The groom's family usually pays for the rehearsal dinner, but that tradition may not go all over the United States, maybe only here in the midwest.
