There are actually a few reasons. Teenagers are very volatile emotionally and they have a hard time finding a good outlet for that energy. Sometimes this comes out as rebellion or outbursts in family or school situations and sometimes this comes out as a thirst and drive for acceptance.
Teenagers very much want to be both individuals and have a place in the group, being in a relationship seems to offer both an outlet for these emotions and a way to belong to a group and a couple. Relationships allow these kids to feel more grown up and that they are progressing "normally" because our society puts so much emphasis on relationships and sex.
(don't believe me? I bet you can't read an article about a starlet with no mention of who she is currently boinking)
Also of course, teenagers have an awful lot of physical and sexual drive. As cliche as it sounds, hormones are peaked at this time, and even kissing can be an extremely physically pleasurable activity.

young people cant wait until they are" grownup" and older people wonder where the time went. people dont stop long enough to enjoy being what age they are now. a child cant wait until their 13 to be a teenager, than 16 so they can drive, then 18 so they can be legal and 21 to be an adult so by the time their 30 they are saying, where did the time go? people rush their lives only to wish they were young again.this is why so many people have midlife crises.

Peer pressure!! Most kids are in *relationships* because other people they know are in relationships and they dont want to be shunned or be a loner as the only one without a boyfriend or girlfriend. And yea i agree im 14 and a girl in my class last year(13!) gave her bf a bj. And the crazy part is it did nothing to her reputation! only a few ppl said she was disgusting and they wouldnt do that.

The kids I know who are really interested in opposite sex - and relationships with them - are very often the same kids who have parents who have divorced - and they see them dating and getting together - and splitting up - and on and on. If a daughter sees her Mom just HAVING to have a man in her life - sadly - she's probably going to think that's the norm - even if she's only 12.

You ain't never lied. I wish they would. They are going to wait until they get older, and wish they were still young. I agree with you. Just enjoy being young. Have a good evening.

Because they are foolish enough to believe that they are ready to find the love of their lives. Just remember being 15 yourself and I'm certain you'll be able to identify better with them. If not yourself then I'd bet you knew someone with these same emotions at that age.

A relationship is a "cool" thing to be in.
It makes them feel grown up, and it is popular among kids because, like someone said above, it is glamorized in the mainstream.

Because its glamourized all over - tv, books. lyrics, magazines. Our society does it. It wasn't this way in the early 1900's to the 1930's and why? The parents and grandparents had morals and values! Parents allow it to happen. Who is in charge of the family - the parent or the child?

even though we are yunger, we still have regular feelings. we feel the same about love in many ways adults do. we cant help it if we really like a person, right? i guess being in love when your young is part of the fun about being young
