Before 9/11 I worked for a bank on Water Street down there near battery park ....I would take the trains that ran under the WTC and I had a 4 hour a day commute...cause I didnt live in city I lived upstate....6 months before what happened I got a job in the County I lived in which was only a 20 min commute....I was working that day...and thought something was strange when none of our phones were ringing...( I worked at a computer rebate center) anyway a co worker came in saying a plane had just hit one of the WTC buildings...I thought it was some kind of mishap with directions or something....but as we watched on tv we saw that second plane hit and I knew than it was not a mistake.....One of my coworkers mother worked in there.....they never found her ....when I left work that night....it was like a ghost town because everyone left to go home early.....was a sad thing to happen to all those innocent people.....I saw people jump who had no way out .....a friend of mine that worked across the street from WTC made it out....she had to go to therapy...she said she still has nightmares....one of the worst things for me to see in my life time

I was sleeping in my apartment in CA. My mom called from NY and left a message while I was in the shower to turn on the tv. What I saw just seemed unreal. I woke up my boyfriend, now hubby, and told him about it. I went to work that day as a teacher. When I got to work all of the teachers were watching tv in the workroom. They all looked at me and asked me if I knew anyone in the towers, since I'm from NY. Luckily I did not, except a girl from high school and she's ok. I felt like I was in a daze all day. Wow that day changed everything. What a horrible day in our history. I hope that nobody ever forgets about all of those lives lost that day. I know I won't.

I was in NJ getting ready to go to a pre-school orientation for my younger daughter. I saw it on tv and called my husband who was in Mpls on business. I went to the orientation (the preschool was at a church) and the minister said a prayer.

When I got home, I received 2 phone calls ... one from middle school, one from elementary school, asking if there would be a parent home when the children got out of school. (We lived in a very small town, where most kids walk to school). Turns out the school would not let any child go to an empty house. Too many parents worked in NYC.

My son's classmate lost his father. My daughter's class had two children whose fathers died. My neighbor was killed, four days after the birth of his third child.

My husband drove from Mpls to NJ in one day. We returned the rental car on 9/13 at Newark airport. Not a single plane in the sky. We looked out over lower Manhattan, and the Statue of Liberty, at the smoke still drifting off into the distance.

I will never forget that day.

I can recall 9-11 just like yesterday
I was fast asleep that morning. My son came running in my room saying "You got to hear and see this". I could hear screams and pandemonium from his TV. I ran in his room to see and saw the plane going into the side of the building. I really thought he was watching King Kong and couldn't comprehend what horrible things were happening. The was one of the saddest day for us.

I was at home at my apartment. I had no TV or radio. I went to take the bus. The people on the bus were so quiet. The bus driver asked"So did you hear about the airplane crashing into the Pentagon?" I said,"What?" Then she explained to me what happened. I went right away to the library to the internet. I emailed my family. I went to Perspectives course that night and prayed and cried with other Christians and I heard Don Richardson speak.

I was waiting to go to work. Sitting on the couch watching Good Morning America. So I saw it live. I work in the travel industry so it was a long and slow day just kept the tv on at work.

I remember I was in fifth grade. I recall my teacher talking about the tragedy that had just occured and he told us 'we were a part of history'. I didn't really understand what had happened and my class went to the library to watch the live television program. I saw a huge building with flames and smoke everywhere. I was afraid.
That's about all I remember though.

I was at work on that Tuesday morning when I barely heard a co-worker say something about "Twin Towers...planes hit...buildings both collapsed." WTF was my reaction in a nutshell! I tried to get into several news-related websites but they were jammed. Soon, everyone was listening to the local FM station, WRFY Reading, PA. They were simulcasting CBS's Dan Rather whose choked voice made it VERY clear that this was real. I spent the next week in a fog, along with the rest of the country.

I was asleep in my home in Southern Nevada. One of my daughters called from Ohio and told me to turn on the TV. As events unfolded and more information became available, I prayed that two people I knew were not on the plane which hit the Pentagon. I was wrong. They were.
