I read the book and the people that have answered here do not have a clue because they are going by the title, which is off putting. I almost did not buy it until I started reading. What she calls a ***** is a woman that is not willing to surrender her own interests to be liked- in essence, not a ***** at all but Sherry Argov writes tongue in cheek and uses humor to get her point across. By and large, I think she is right. Men don't like women with no personality or backbone and as the book explains she does not define a ***** as brass or rude-just spunky.

There once was a time when women had self respect and you couldn't get away with calling them b-tches, now many of them love, thank goodness for the hip hop culture, now we have a useless generation of wanna be pimps and hoes. I know that didn't answer your question I was just venting , sorry No a real man does not want a b-tch he wants a lady.
good luck

Girl I sooo read that book and im not so much like it either BUT I do believe men prefer a ***** to some degree....A real man wants a woman who can assert herself and take care of herself and knows what she wants and how to get it. I think "*****" in this case is not meant to be derogatory but instead means most woman who are able to hold there on are considered bitches because they speak their mind. Weak insecure women would consider a woman like this a ***** too. What man wants a push over for a girlfriend??? MEN LOVE CHALLENGE and a ***** will challenge them ;P

My husband seems to like a bit of b*tch in his woman or he never would have married me!
I think some men just need a strong woman who is a leader and not afraid to demand what she wants. Those women are typically referred to as b*tches.

It does hit on a lot of relationship issues. What men say and how women hear it. I myself can say some but not all is true. When they say Bitches they refer to the women who stand up for themselves not women who are mean.

What exactly are they calling a B**** in the book? i mean i have been called one often for simply being a strong independent female that doesn't need a man to protect her and provide for her financially.

Why do men love bitches. Men don't really, a better book would be why do women become bitches for apparently no reason at all.
