you would clean it the same way you would clean it if it was not protected.

It does not matter if the protector was applied at the factory or later, it should be reapplied after cleaning

yes, spilled red wine on commercial grade repellent. clld big name carpet company next day cause what i tried (everything) didn't work but that carpet cleaner could not get the rest of the stain out. clld another company, over the phone they suggested a product clld "stain magic" avail @ just a few local stores like specialty cleaning supplies- also found it on the web. KEY is it has 2 cartridges that are separate & only mix when sprayed. need to buy the cartridge holder & the a + b.

If the repellent was injected into the material you can clean it by using a rented steam cleaner or hire a pro. If it was only scotchguarded, it's a spray on and would need to be resprayed everytime you clean whether it's the whole piece or a spot.

I would use just plain water and a mild detergant... dishsoap..
