They need to learn the hard way that they need to put their serious questions elsewhere.

We all take our chances. I have asked serious questions and received rude but funny answers. I just laugh and go on looking for some answers that understand my serious questions.

If i ask a serious question but get rude and funny answers i don't mind, because you expect that half the time on here anyway, but hopefully somewhere among it i'll get a serious answer to the question i was asking.

I feel more sorry for the people that ask funny questions and get serious answers.

I probly should cuz I'm one of the biggest wise crackers here!
If the question is just too lame for a serious answer I try to give them an honest answer while at the same time a wake up call to shake thier head somwhat?...
Like common people? Are you being totoally serious?
I can't beleive sometimes they are, and maybe they're pullin our leg too?

No, I don't feel sorry for the serious question askers. I think it is a form of flattery that rude answerers take time to put out a rude answer. I do feel sorry for those rude answerers though, because they probably don't know or weren't taught any better.

I do. I wish we could somehow separate the two.

Because people get penalized for "chatting", the only place they can be witty is in people's serious questions. Some people say, "serious answers only, please."

I wish we could have a system to designate (s) for serious questions, (o) for open questions...welcome to all manner of witty & funny responses. That way, the two would be clearly demarcated, from the very beginning.

Some of the questions are so stupid they deserve to have at least a funny answer to them. I'm never rude with my responses though.

I do, simply because I know how it feels. There have been times that I have asked friends some serious questions and they look at me as if I have become some alien to them. But it is okay for them to ask me serious questions.
