i have a 95 grand am gt, 3.1 v6 engine, around 115K miles
had the car 3 years..car is clean and ran smoothe..also i put some mods on it (tinted windows, cd player, flowmasters)

my radiator went and i overheated the car..mechanic says the heads went also and did some engine damage..should i replace the engine or sell it for a new car? im 21 and i have a decent job but cant get something too expensive...

help

if you like the car I would buy a new engine for it, GM sells new 3.1 crate engines reasonable or you could take your chances and get a junkyard engine, the 3.1 is known for blowing intake gaskets but not head gaskets, anyway you look at it it's cheaper than buying a new car.

you are one of millions in the same situation.. take a look over the fence in any latemodel salvage yard.. good looking cars with junk engines or transmissions.. tough call what to do at this point.. if you replace the engine, it won't be long before the trans gives up then your are in the same deal.. it really never ends..if you can't repair your own or don't want to learn then you are better off paying the note for a new car..

Fix it, but i would see about getting a used engine to save some money

I'm amazed that your Pontiac lasted that long to begin with. it's not worth fixing, pull your CD player out and scrap the car.
