if a mother gives birth to a retarted child, what are the chances that she will give birth to another one?

Its like a 50-50.. I have a cousin that is a lil slower and all her siblings are not. I have a friend who has a brother who is Mental Retarded and my friend and his other brother isnt.
Its like birth defects.. dont all siblings have them. I'm a Cleft Palete and my sister( younger) isnt. So hope this helped ya!

It depends. Something are not hereditary while others are. Somethings are genetic and some things are environmental. It would depend on what condition the child has.

that would have to depend on whether it was a hereditary disease or just one of those things that happens. I'm pretty sure most mental retardation is not genetic, but I'm no expert.

depends what you mean by retarded. If you mean a special needs child, that is most likely genetic and there is a possilbitly. If you mean a low IQ that is both environment and genetic

it depends on why the child is considered retarded. in most cases, the other children have normal intelligence.
