The American people can be divided into three major groups
First; (largest group) These individuals have no idea what the Fair Tax is. They spend all their time watching American Idol, Entertainment Tonight, MTV, NASCAR, MLB, NFL, NBA, College Football and many similar programs. They do not seem to be concerned with politics, world events etc.
The second group are those that have heard of the FairTax and fully support the Bill. A number of the posters on this and many other websites are well aware of the benefits of the Fair Tax.
The last group are those that oppose the Fair Tax. This group has three subgroups. There are those that oppose the the bill because the heard things about it, but have not really looked into it. They have not studied the bill and are very confused. Once these individuals learn the true facts about the Fair Tax, they will support the bill.
The other two subgroups are hard core opponants. There are those that have a financially vested interest in the current income tax system. This includes lobbist, tax attorneys or accountants (not true cpa's) and those that have substantial funds in various tax loopholes where they avoid paying taxes. The last group are the politicians! They will lose the power and control they currently maintain to the American People. Many of them may also fall into both of these subgroups.
You can see how true this is just by reading the answers to this question.

Because there's NOTHING fair about the "Fair Tax." I truly do understand it and the more I study it the more I detest it.
It disproportionally affects the poor and middle class while giving a major break to the wealthy. When you take the levy from one group you either have to cut revenue and services OR transfer the burden to someone else. If they wealthy get a tax break then the poor and middle class have to pick up the slack.
BTW, your "equations" are nonsense.

You are assuming that people who "truly understand" the Fair Tax will by necessity/logic/common sense agree with you.
I humbly suggest that you have made a faulty assumption.
A reasonable person can disagree with the goals of the fair tax and understand it at the same time.
A reasonable person can agree with the goals of the fair tax and dismiss it as unreasonable in today's political environment.
A reasonable person can understand the Fair Tax and prefer some other solution.

What makes you think people don't understand it? I for one have read a lot on the website several times - I'm still not in favor of it.
Get back the compliance costs? In your dreams. Think about it. Assuming that it was implemented, all this is just going to happen, with no verification or costs? I don't think so.

The whole idea is pure nonsense and foolishness. It wouldn't work. It would be nice if life were that simple. We have about 300,000,000 people. They can not all be fitted into some cookie cutter system that ignores the poor and doesn't make fair demands on the rich. It would destroy the income of millions of self employed persons. It stinks.

The only tax that is fair is to tax all people the same.A 10% income tax without loop holes,if it`s good enough for God it`s good enough for us all.And we need to drug test all people that recieve tax payers help.If I get drug tested to have a job they need to be tested for me to feed them. The ritch get by to easy and the middle class American workers pay the bill .I knew a woman once that traided her food stamps to buy booze .I worked at a grocery store and watched people buy so much meat and can goods that I could servive for a year.T he bad thing is they owned luxurie cars I worked and owned a junk car.
