I looked at my fantasy football team and found that I got Michael Vick for my starter (of all people) so I traded him for Alex Smith of the 49ers.

However, I got JaMarcus Russell of the Raiders and he's not even signed yet or shown up to practice camp. Should I trade him, too? I'm a bit of a rookie at this fantasy team stuff (did it last year for the first time).

Here are the other players on my team (other than my QB Alex Smith):

*Larry Johnson and Laurence Maroney as RBs
*Anquan Boldin, Reggie Wayne, and Calvin Johnson as WRs
*Tony Gonzales as TE
*Robbie Gould as a kicker
*"Da' Bears" defense

BACKUPS (other than JaMarcus Russell):

*Chester Taylor and DeAngelo Williams as RBs
*Devery Henderson as a WR
*The Colts' defense

Tony Gonzales is terrific and Larry Johnson has to be good since he's from Penn State. All you really need is a warm body who is not in jail to toss the ball to Tony or hand off to Larry (assuming the offensive line is OK). The Bears proved last year they can make the super bowl without a great quarterback. The guy the Bear's have handling snaps has difficulty handing the ball off at times - witness Monday night against the Colts. The Bears defense should be your ace in the hole.

Nice swing to get Alex Smith for Vick...

There might be someone who's high enough on Russell to consider a trade (look for somebody who drafted three QBs if possible)...

If not, the waiver wire might have some undervalued talent left - Jason Campbell perhaps? I'm sure the guy who drafted Rex Grossman is hovering over the "drop player" button right now...

I would say that Russel doesn't have a lot of value...but since you got someone to give you ANYTHING (let alone a possible breakout QB) for Vick makes me rethink that.

However, he may not bring you much value in return, yet considering the situation he wont give you much either. What I would do is drop the Colts Defense for the best available QB in the free agent pool and see what happens.

I would trade russell as fast as possiable for a starting qb. See who is out there but i would rather have John Kitna than russell at least you know kitna will play. Otherwise i would stick with the rest of your roster looks like a pretty good team

see if guys like Jeff Garcia or Daunte Culpepper are available. Drop Russell for one of them because he won't produce this year.
A QB can't miss that much of training camp and then come in and start and be successful.
