Yes it is fine. But never give it to children at night since it has coffee in it and chocolate. They will NOT be able to go to bed, they will be very hyper! usually it is ok during the afternoon. If you want them to not be tired the whole day after they wake up, give some to them for breakfast, just make sure you make them have something that good for them with it. Like orange juice or milk or cereal.

I'm glad you asked this question...I never thought about it before.

Before I answered I checked Olive Garden's website and Emeril Lagasse's--and there's a difference. Olive Garden doesn't use a liquor in the dessert, they use an espresso or espresso flavored syrup. Emeril actually uses 2 liquors, not cooked so the alcohol is in there, and espresso.
So, I guess it would depend on the receipe. If you have a question just ask your server or ask to speak to the manager and ask them. But, I would think that it doesn't have any alcohol in it because you have to be of legal drinking age to order anything with uncooked alcohol in it.
As for your children consuming the espresso...if it's a syrup it probably isn't caffenated, if it's true espresso...I wouldn't give them much especially at night.

Yeah, I think so.
Its not like your child is going to get drunk by simply eating a slice of it... and the whole sugar makes you hyper thing, its been tested by scientists and they found it to be a load of crap.
Although the espresso might give them a bit of a boost so I would not let them have it right before bedtime if they are smaller children. If they are high school aged, or a little younger, then I would say they could have it whenever really.

There's a wee bit of coffee liqueur in it, like Kahlua. But a kid's not going to get drunk off it. If anything just hyper from the sugar.

It's perfectly fine. Some people worry because it's made with rum, but not much. So small pieces are okay.

Try not to give them too much because it's got LOTS of sugar and caffeine in it.

It's really very good; I think they'll love it.

Yes it is perfectly ok for kids since the liquor used has been cooked away till only the flavour is left.

Why not? It's is a very expensive dessert. They might be just as happy with cake or pie with ice cream.
