I remember hearing somewhere that it's illegal to take pictures of police cars. Is this true? I live in Utah, btw (just in case the law is different in certain states)

not illegal, but try not to get to close or in the way because they can arrest you for obstructing an investigation

In America? Are you kidding. The media will gladly not only take pictures but give you a tour on every security and safety measure our country takes. The police people will probably grab a donut and a cup of coffee and pose for you....you are being silly, right?

No law I know of about taking photos of police cars, but out of respect for cops, most news reporters don't include their photos (especially if they are undercover cops).

it shouldn't be . besides they are PUBLIC property.
They do not like it when they are caught doing what they aren't supposed to be doing ,and they don't like evidence against them.
They photograph you all the time and you don't even know it. but how convenient that their camera isn't.t functioning properly when they are in the wrong.

I looked it up and if they are on the public roadway you can. just as you can anyone in public, just not in a lud manor.

It is legal as far as I know, though cops may tell you otherwise, they usually have the knack for making up laws when they want.

Ask the cop each time you do it. I'm not sure whether it is legal or not, but it's good to know if the cop is going to arrest you or not for it.

They shouldn't be since they are public property [you have to verify that]...as a measure of CYA make sure they are prominently in the background of your pic

it can become "illegal" if you take a pic of the officer getting an unprotected "bj" in his squad car from the local teenie junkie hooker...
