I'd say it's rare, but anything can happen. My youngest, Tommy, was sitting alone at 4 months and started walking at 9 months. I thought THAT was early! He's almost 11 months now and his favorite thing is to climb onto the couch...and fall off. If your baby is walking that early, watch out! And get him a leash. ;-) (J/k about the leash. It's more humane to just sprout eyes on the back of your head so you're not afraid to leave him alone for three seconds.)

That's very unusual to walk at 6 months. Most babies are just starting to sit up on their own and are unable to support their weight on their spines to walk. Some might pull up onto things, but even that is very early at 6 months.
I would call a baby that walked at 6 months.. Super BABY

Every baby is different. Each baby reaches their milestones at a different time. If a baby walks to Early the baby can be bowlegged. Consult your pediatrician if you are concerned.

Very...a baby's spine and legs aren't strong or muscle developed enough to walk at 6 months.

Well, seeing as most babies are just learning to sit at that point, I'd say it's pretty unusual, if not freakish.

Very, Very, Very. The average baby is not expected to sit alone until 7 mos.
I'd check her/his ID.
