An anecdote is a short little story or event, often humorous.
An example would be yesterday I went to the store, and the clerk said something funny, which caused me to respond something also funny, and then something else unexpected happened, which was also funny.
Basically, a short little snippet of a story.

Do you have a dictionary?
Don't waste your and our time with your laziness.
But since I have wasted time - write this out 100 times...
An anecdote is a short tale told about an interesting, amusing, or biographical incident. Usually an anecdote is based on real life, an incident involving actual persons or places. However, over time, modification in reuse may convert a particular anecdote into a fictional piece. Sometimes humorous, anecdotes are not jokes, because their primary purpose is not to evoke laughter. An anecdote is in the tradition of both the parable and fable, but is distinct from them in several ways.

"Lasciare" = "To leave." "Lasciano" = "They leave." Quando = When Due = Two Si lasciano = (They) leave each other ("Si" over here does not mean "yes", "lasciare" is being used as the intransitive verb "lasciarsi" over here, hence the "si") "Quando due si lasciano" = "When two leave each other."
