I am a computer specialist. I have four years of education from a state university and I make about fifty thousand dollars a year in North Dakota. If I moved to Hawaii (Note* I am unmarried and have no children), would I be able to afford it? I know it costs loads to live there, but I am willing to live in a one-bedroom unfurnished apartment, seriously, just to get out of this frozen tundra of a hell-hole. My loans from college will be about 700 dollars a month. Will I survive on the money by the end of each month? I could really use some advice, automatic ten points to the one who can help the most.

It really depends on what island you'll be living on. Assuming that you want to live on Oahu (Honolulu), I don't think $700 will cover your rent much less your living expenses. Check out craigslist to get an idea of what rent is like in whatever town you want to live in.

i lived there nearly 5 years in the 70's and i think its ok you could get a garden apartment or efficiency apartment and i think you could. its high there but there are alot of places high also. you would have to budget but with job there you would be fine. there are alot of nice people there also.
