Heterosexuals: If someone were to question you if you were gay, how would you react? Calmly - "Nah, I am straight".. Or Defensive - "What are you crazy?! Of course I am STRAIGHT! Why the hell would you ask me that?"

Homosexuals (preferebly ones who were afraid to tell the truth about their sexuality): Same question as above.. How would you react?

Why should I react in anger? Guys have asked me to have sex with them, I just say no and walk away. What's the big deal?

I'm queer, and not particularly comfortable with it.

If a situation comes up, I usually avoid the situation by making an absurdly smart-a.s.s remark. I'll make up a ridiculous story about the all-male orgy I was at last night, and list names of the people who were there - often including the most masculine male in the group. He usually responds by elaborating even further on the obviously made-up story, describing how steamy the sex was.

Everyone gets a chuckle, and I get to avoid the truth.

Being a single good looking guy of 45, when I am asked this question at parties, usually by husbands who are worried that their wives are giving me too much attention, (coz I can have a bright intelligent conversation about their interests, likes, dislikes, favourite position etc, which obviously husbands never seem to ask), I usually answer by asking them to leave their wife with me for the night and she can give her answer in the morning.
Ps I'm also a black belt which helps if the hubby gets real pised at my answer. Poor blokes are in a no-win situation, tough!

I think if your going to ask your friend just ask. If she feels comfortable enough to tell you the truth then so be it. I'm not sure what you are going to accomplish if you think you hear the wrong answer. I know you care for this girl. Just be the best friends you can don't look for answer just tell her that you feel she likes you a lot. But no matter what it is not going to change how you feel about her ever. I know this is what she needs to hear. GOOD-LUCK(^_^)KAY

I'm bi, and before I was ready to come out I would often answer a bit defensively. But because I value honesty so much I would generally avoid the question/change the subject, or in one case one of my friends heard a rumor that I'd come out and I said, "You heard wrong, I didn't." Not a lie, but still a strong reaction.

I'm straight, and if someone asked me if I was gay I would probably just laugh and calmly say "No, I'm Straight."

I'm a heterosexual woman who gets asked that ALL the time. Well, okay, not all the time - but frequently!

If it's someone in a bar, my answer is, "It doesn't matter, there's no chance of a relationship with you or anyone in here". It's no one else's business who I sleep with!

I'm a homosexual that is denying it to the world.

I have been accused of being gay before.

If someone said " 'Bob' thinks your gay." I simply tell them "Okay." I don't deny or conform that I'm gay.

If someone asks me "Are you gay?" I tell them calmly that I'm not.

I have been asked "So, are you gay, bi or straight?" and I said "gay" but that was because I was at a gay club. :-)
