I know the celebration is limited in high school but I always wanted to find out what is allowed and what isn't. I always wanted to try to dunk the ball on the post but was afraid to get called for it.

Pretty much none. I've seen players get penalized for the mile-high salute. Some refs are stricter than others but I still wouldn't do anything too flashy.

The rule is that you cannot do anything that is prolonged, excessive, or draws attention to yourself. Some refs interpret it differently.

This is how I do it in my games: First, I immediately go to the player, ask for the ball, and tell him to go celebrate with his teammates. If you do something completely spontaneous, I'll allow it. If you immediately go to your teammates and high-five or hug or something, that's cool. If you do any kind of dance, show up an opponent, use the ball or anything as a prop, dive unopposed in to the end zone, do a choreographed celebration with others, point at the crowd or yourself, etc. then your team is doing the extra point try from the 18 yard line.

My philosophy is that football is a team sport. It took 11 players to get you and the ball into the end zone, plus the coaches calling the right play and getting you in shape to play, and even the teachers who help you keep your grades up. For you to stand out there and hog all of the glory for yourself shows a lack of respect for the opponents, your teammates, your coaches, and the game itself.

I'll guarantee that dunking the ball through the goal post will get you a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty at the high school level.

In some places you cant do anything. In some places you can dance. But nowhere may you involve other teamates in doing a celbration or you will have unsportsman like conduct.

You cant do the thing where you roll the ball at the teamates and they fall like bowling

Or the grnade where you throw the ball up and everybody falls like getting blown up by a grenade

I wouldn't do a shuffle or irish jig either

I would suggest doing a heisman and calling it quits there

I believe that celebratory conduct in both high school AND in college ball is considered a penalty.
