The Democratic-lead Congress are obviously a bigger disappointment than Bush, and that is really saying something!

The approval rating is for CONGRESS, in which the Democrats have only a marginal majority. In other words, of that 19%? It gets split *almost* exactly b/t Republican and Democratic representatives.
Other factors? There remain among the Republican party some people who believe in loyalty to one's president even above one's country (b/c to them, the president IS the country), and so still back Bush. However, the Democratic party is far more concerned with accountability from our representatives, no matter who they are. We elected them to help combat Bush's unchecked power. While they've made an EFFORT to bring in a timetable to end the war, and to demand accountability from the White House, etc. -- and in almost every case just couldn't get the numbers it would take to override a veto -- they haven't done enough. In some matters, such as them extending the warrantless wiretapping even if it's just for 6 months and even if less than half the Democratic representatives supported it, we feel downright betrayed.
We don't make gods out of our leaders the way some Republicans do.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it's not Democrats who are getting the lower approval rating, it is Congress. Fox 'news' would never tell you this secret, but there are REPUBLICANS in Congress too!
Think about it this way. The 25% that support Bush don't like the fact that Congress has a Democratic majority. On the other side of the fence are people like me who think Congress hasn't gone nearly far enough in opposing Bush. I disapprove of Congress because they won't impeach Bush and Cheney and won't stand up and get us out of the Iraq occupation. The Left thinks Congress is too far right, the Right thinks Congress is too far left.
If you think the 'Dems' will be voted out of office next election, you are SO delusional. But that's what you get from watching Fox 'news.'

I think that part of the reason may be that people, even those who disapprove of the way the war is being conducted, don't like what the Democrats have to say about it. The constant harping that we can't win, and just need to leave at any cost is not a solution. If a viable way to win the war would be offered, I think the response of the public would be much more positive.

Its not the Democrats that have the low rating, it's the Congress. Many of the people who are unhappy with the Democratic majority in Congress are liberals. These liberals felt they voted in the Democratic majority to end the war. And Congress has not yet ended the war but continues to fund it. I doubt these liberals who apparently are left of the Congress are about to vote Republican!

I disagree, I think people are disappointed that they voted in Dems for "change" and to get rid of this stinking Administration and they haven't been able to do it. They're just pissed off that they are pandering to Bush.
They probably won't be voted out of office, sorry to break it to you.
AND - Republicans in congress are either blocking votes or Bush is Vetoing them, you can't get much done if there is so much gridlock and all everyone really cares about is their pork. It's not just Dems, but Republicans too.

Congress is made up of both Democrats and Republicans, and tends to have low aproval ratings, since some of each party are bound to object to the other's activities in Congress - whether the majority or opposition, either party can 'get in the way,' and earn disaproval.

Simple reason, The Dems platform is that Bush is a bad President but they can not come up with any meaningful bills to offset the mistakes that he made.

I think the current president and the sad sack of clowns in both parties running for office is the sorriest bunch of losers I have ever seen... I'm voting for Christopher Walken, John Daily, or just plain old, "None of the above"!

first of all fox news is run with republican interest in mind so of course the reporting will be biased. so it only appears that democratic favor is dwindling. comparing bush's approval rating to that of an entire party is like comparing a javelin (as in the car) the entire ford motors company. i think the odds are pretty likely that a democratic president is in our future and i'm happy about that.

They made promises and they haven't been able to keep and the people find that unacceptable, along with all the time and money wasted investigating everything the Bush Administration has done. I think it has to do with Congress as a whole and less about partisan politics. They all suck and are grossly incompetent.
