Catching a ball or an object is a legitimate way for a teacher to include all students in a discussion or a Q & A session. It doesn't single anyone out for not raising a hand and if you know you must answer when you catch the thing, then you will most likely have an answer to the question. This is similar to drawing names from a cup or pulling popcicle sticks with names on them.

You may think it's juvenile, but it really does get all students involved. As for thinking the teacher lies, I can't answer that, but it sounds like you are just annoyed with her and are looking for reasons not to like her. Give the class an honest shot and I think you will find you learn a great deal.

She's probably just trying to get everyone involved. Personally, I'd rather have a teacher toss something like that than just stand up there and talk and talk. It's at least more entertaining. Where she is from is really irrelevant. It's only the second day...give her a chance. She may end up your favorite teacher this year...you never know!

The meanest teacher I ever had in school was the one that taught me the most. You might not like your teacher on a personal level and that's fine. There isn't a rule that says you have to like them. But don't let that influence your performance in class. Pay attention to watch she teaches so you'll be ready when the ball is tossed to you. And it is only the second day of classes. First impressions can change.

ok. it's only the second day of school. i mean you can't judge your teacher from only knowing her 2 days. she seems like a teacher who is trying to make her class fun and interactive. even tho it seems really childish, it's better than getting lectured for an hour and having to take notes. just give it some time.
