@RitchWilliams: What opportunity is there for the poor? No money means struggling to live. Many poor people simply can't afford education, and no education means you can't compete in this world.
The moment when business and government completely become one is the moment when the middle class dissappears. We are on our way there and Pseudo-conservatives like the ones here on Yahoo! Answers and in Washington are leading the way. If you don't believe this is happening, look at all the lobbying that goes on in Washington. Look at Blackwater USA - a private military.
The idea that left wingers or left wing groups will abolish the middle class is a pure lie. It is completely contrary to any left-wing ideals. Anyone who disagrees is ill-informed and probably brainwashed by their party.

That would take a reversal of the present economic trends.
The rich are richer. The middle class is richer. There are more poor people but only in line with population growth, and we have had a flood of immigrants both legal and illegal almost all of whom poor.
There's still a middle third of the population and its income and wealth continue to increase. Many economists consider "middle class" in absolute terms - to be between 2X and 5X the poverty level of income. There has been an exodus from this group in the last quarter century but the ratio is more than 9 to 1 households moving UP not down.

I'm Brazilian and I belong to the middle class. Another misconception about Brazil. I consider that about 20% of Brazilian population belong to the middle class.

The issue is not "how wealthy" the rich are as
compared to everyone else. This issue is
how each economic quintile (government
measured economic group) does, in comparison
to 10, 20 years ago, etc. By this
measure, every quintile is doing better except
the lowest. The lowest, as you might imagine,
is doing the worst as wage suppression by
illegal immigrant competition keeps that
quintile's wage from growing.

That will happen only if a Hillary and her gang of socialist scum take over and ruin the country.
Capitalism created the middle class, because it allows EVERYONE to get involved, if they so choose The American middle class is currently the largest and most well-off in human history, and it is growing daily.
Economics 101, chunky.

If the Democrats take control of the Presidency I'd say SOONER rather than later. They want an oppressed population to control who is totally dependent on the Government.
VOTE REPUBLICAN and stop this madness.

Give Hillary four years with a Democratic Congress and we're there who will roll over and do whatever she asks.
She'll raise the minimum wage again and again and again while taxing the hell out of everyone and raising the poverty level because of the economic impact of those two actions together.
