Does anyone have any advise on which ones to look into and which ones to stay away from?

1) make sure the college is regionally accredited. Regional accreditation is higher than national accreditation and it will make transferring and grad school easier.

2) make sure the college has a good reputation in the field you are studying. Schools like UMass, Boston U, U Fla, Cal State, etc... have a good reputation everywhere. Some schools you've never heard of still have a pretty good reputation. Places with names like (somewhere) State College/University. Some schools are well know for being not so demanding (often a proprietary - for-profit school).

Most other considerations are simply the same as picking any other college. They need to have a degree you want and be in a price range you can afford.
