You should look around the areas of Darlinghurst, Paddington, Kings Cross (some parts of this are a bit seedy but it is the gay centre of sydney. I think Darlinghurst would be nicer and it's also very gay friendly and right next door to the cross.) These three areas are in the middle of the city and close to all the action, plus have a large gay population and plenty of gay bars and such.
