curled up. How can I stop that and make it stay flat like when I bought it? Does it have to do with the way I'm washing/drying it?

The only way I know of , is to zip it up and hang it up to dry. When it goes in the dryer, the heat makes the material shrink a little, causing it to curl. You could try air drying if you have that setting and see how that does.

Sure you are hand washing your jumper. When you finish washing your jumper lay flat on a towel to remove most of the water. Then place on another towel, Place a plastic chopping board on top of the jumper , then lay a heavy object on top. This will keep the zip from curling up.

It happens because the fibers in the fabric are shrinking while the zipper doesn't. Wash them in cold water and delicate low heat setting in the dryer or line dry.

I used to have this problem, then I made sure that it was zipped up all the way when I put it in the washer. Haven't had a problem since, good luck.
