i would say i prefer mixtapes because it takes more effort and thought to put one together for someone. burned cd's are good, but not as personal plus it seems like they always skip. i got a mixtape for my 19th birthday 7 years ago and i still listen to it all the time. the person that made it put a lot into it and even made me a really rad insert for it. i think there's an art to making a good tape. i used to make punk tapes all the time, but ever since i got a vehicle with a cd player i haven't made so many but have been thinking about delving into it again. i think there's also a better sense of nostalgia when it comes to tapes. even the image of a tape is iconographic. i'm personally not a big fan of mp3s or mp3 players. i guess i'm the equivalent of a format purist kind of like people that collect vinyl. i like having the actual cd with liner notes and artwork. mp3s aren't as tangible and i think trivialize music.

I-Tunes playlists, i'll never go back to cd's, it scratches, is kinda annoying caring it with your big size cd player, sometimes i don't know what cd it is, i prefer ipod, much much easier =D
