I put a new 350 in my camaro about 6 months ago and lately I've been having to put about a qt in every week. my car has been running hot also, it gets up to 210 while in traffic, and after I turn the car off it gets really hot because the fan only turns on when the car is on and doesnt turn off till the car is off. Could my car burn more oil from running this hot? Oh, and I usually never drive my car more than about 15-30 min. at a time cause every where I go is real close but I got several places to go everyday. Could this short distance driving contribute to oil burning? Because that means much of the time im driving my pistons havent swelled to their full size, right? any advice?

No, running 210* won't cause it to burn oil. In fact that's really not all that hot.. 195, 200, 205 is the norm temps really.. 230* and up would be running hotter than it should.

Heating up after engine is shut down is very norm, and will gain about 20-40*.. This won't hurt. It's just 'heat soak'. The coolant aint moving, no air is moving.. The under hood heat, exhaust heat, etc is just soaking through the block and heating up the water thats sitting and heating the water temp sender up.

Now on your oil burning.. It can be 1 of 3 things.

PCV valve/breather... You need a PCV in 1 cover and a breather in the other...

Valve seals could be worm/bad, or leaking.. The OE seals was just a rubber O ring.

Rings.. You said it's a new engine.. Was it broke in right? Did the rings seat?

210 is normal for a fuel injected engine with a 195 thermostat. You do need to get that sucker out on the highway and work the engine to get the rings seated. But it shouldn't be burning that much oil in any case. It sounds like you got a bum engine.

your engine is burning oil because of your valve stem seals .if you know a good mechanic he can do the job with the engine in the car and replace the seals for you might be a 400 bucks job.at 210 you are still running OK . also check your compression to make sure your rings don't need replacing either
