Because one of the hard things for people to do is to change their views about people. Another reason is that unfortunaltely some children are brought up in an atmosphere that some people are better or are inferior to others thus creating an artificial representation of the facts about races or religions etc. Hatred is easier to portray than love because is one of our baser instincts and loving each other despite our differences takes a great amount of effort , purpose and avoiding many obstacles and obstinacy.

Ignorance is a the root of intolerance. People are scared of what they don't know. Instead of getting educated, they chose to hate.
