28AAA is the smallest commercially available real bra in regular production.

It does not mean the breast go in - remember you have to add 4 or 5" to that under bust measure to calculate the cup. This means that the differential (-1) really represents 3-4 inches of breast.

Some companies mark their size 26 training bra as a 26AAA and that then would be the smallest size. They are most often just called 'bra vests' or 'training bras'

AAA is the smallest letter cup size, not the actual size. A 40AAA (custom made most likely) is a bigger cup size than a 34AAA. It's not mentioned much because the other name for it is training bra, I remember this size when I first started out. AAA cups are smaller than AA cups. When measuring for the cup size, assuming you alread know your band size, if the bust measurement is less than 1" but at least 1/2" this would give you an AA cup. If the difference between the bust and band is less than 1/2" this would give you an AAA cup. Less than 1/2" would mean you are either very limited in the bust department or you have not quite hit puberty yet. A guarentee, if you are this size, you won't be in it for very long.

As for 32AA being the smallest overall...it is not. Band sizes can go as small as 26, custom made of course. Most large companies online like Figleaves and Bare Necessities start at 28 and 30 for a band size.

The smallest bra size would be a 26AAA...again, this is what's called a training bra nowadays.

To Sam below...I WISH I could fit into a 32...too bad my frame is too small...32 is not the smallest for band sizes. (and I'm not anorexic either, I've got real E's)

AAA is the smallest cup size.

If you go in the junior section then you can find some training bras which are smaller than AAA cup wise. Else 32 is the smallest bra size.

Nipples protrude through clothes (even through camisoles & undershirts)!!! Even if there is not enough breast volume to fill a cup, the nipple can require a *REAL* bra cover if a person does not want them to show under their tops.

As for "needing" a bra? Of course - many women don't NEED bras. A & B cups are laughably way too small to *need* a bra, lol... Breasts have to be fairly big for a woman to actually find comfort in strapping them in a bit. Even then many big women say the would prefer to be bra-less... so um.. that means the bra most often only a desirable fashion accessory -- NOT a necessity. What may be desirable to most of the world may also apply to tiny women. Women are wearing them for fashion or to alter their appearance under clothing and for smaller sized women, the same desires apply.

There are other considerations. Young women's bodies are just beginning to change and are developing alongside their larger breasted girl-friends. They will be in locker rooms, sleep overs, etc., and will want to be wearing bras just like their friends (who, most likely also don't NEED bras, either, but have large enough breasts to find bras that fit them).

So telling someone who is seeking to find a bra for her tiny body that she doesn't need one is annoying, condescending and dismissive. Please be more conscientious before telling girls and women with small frames that they don't need a bra when they have come to a forum asking for help finding one.

I know that Victoria's Secret makes a 32AA (which I've seen in their catalogue, b/c the catalogue carries a wider range of bra sizes). But to be honest with you, I've never heard of a 32AAA. I always thought the smallest was 32AA.
