Here are five of my favorite current (really current, all debuting within the last 3 years) artists...I'll try be as diverse as possible (I listen to a lot of what you mentioned so maybe we have the same tastes)

Animal Collective: These guys are insane. They are truly experimental and its kind of hard to define their genre. Wikipedia said they were "experimental rock, indie rock, and freak folk". That sums them up pretty well. Really happy music... and I guess kind of on the edge when it comes to new music...I have never heard of anything like them before. Download: Grass, and Flesh Canoe

Death from Above 1979: These guys are the epitome of indie/punk/dance. Again, hard to define. Really loud, really weird, really good. Kind of an LA scene-type rock, but I like them, you can definitely rock out to them. Download: If We Don't Make it We'll Fake It, and Little Girl

Sufjan Stevens: This guy is great, and sounds the most like some of the stuff you listed. He's really good rainy day music, kind of a Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Counting Crows feel with a little bit of an indie twist. The kind of music and voice that could only be described as beautiful. Download: Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois, and Chicago

Cold War Kids: Well if you like the Kings of Leon, you will definitely like them. I would say they are a bit like Oasis, but again, modernized. Catchy without being pop or unintelligent or annoying. They've only had one album so far, but every song is good and they kind of have a raw-feel that reminds me of being at concert of one my friend's bands. Download: Passing the Hat, and Hospital Beds

Beirut: Like Animal Collective, they are completely unique, and hard to define. They have a very Eastern-European farm at the turn of the century- vibe. They have a pretty good balance between being completely weird and indie pop that makes them the perfect new band, for me anyway. Download: After the Curtain, and Carousels

Without going into much detail these bands seem to fit your liking as well: Built to Spill, Tea Leaf Green, Radiohead (old but hey- genuis), The Flaming Lips, Pavement, and the New Pornographers

If you like Jack Johnson and John Mayer, check out Jake Armerding. He's an indie singer-songwriter from Boston.
