We're always being told diversity is so great. But when put the test(Iraq), it seems that its causing the country to break apart rather than glue together.

We lost the day we invaded and Iraq has lost every day since the invasion. Iraq is not a democracy and should not be judged in the same manner of diversity in the US. They have been killing each other for two thousand years they don't even understand the concept of living together let alone being diverse.

Ahh, the great theory of diversity. Put different cultures, people with different beliefs, together and the theory says they should learn from each other, share insights, and prosper. Should. In reality, what happens when, "worlds collide," is deeply engrained predjudices and conflicts rear their ugly heads. Sigh. My opinion is that diversity works when all parties are open to it and are willing to work to make it happen. Iraq is not ready for it. So, to answer your question, no it is not a blow to the theory. If Iraq were truly trying to make it work, and couldn't do it, then, yes, it would be a blow....but all Iraq is not trying. Good question. Made me think :)

militant Islam is the blow to diversity. I do not like people who want to kill me. If all they want is you dead how do you negotiate with them. Their is no way to reason with them. and it really doesn't matter where we confront or combat them as long as it isn't here. Their side is the one that must show some movement and I see none.
Love Muffins needs a reality check. 9/11 was an attack on us and it was done by people like the murderers in Iraq. They are all from the same camp.

The US has been winning the battle against terrorists in Iraq. There will be no loss. To my knowledge, no one in the US is making an issue of diversity. Iraqis are Arab and muslim. Kurds are muslim. They are of the same part of the Caucasian race. There is no diversity in Iraq.

What do you mean "lose" Iraq

We've lost. They've lost.

The whole thing is lost.

How would we win?

We should leave Iraq alone. The people we are fighting there never did anything to America.

Don't people realize this.

What would you do if some other country was trying to occupy America. You would fight them. Right?

America are the Terrorists creating an Iraqui holocaust.

what a HUGE oversimplification.

you're going to compare the hatred and divisiveness that has existed from the ottoman empire into today's modern definition of diversity? are you serious? no. it's not a blow to current goals and ideas of diversity. it doesn't apply; hence the problem that we are having over there.
