He was an outfielder for the most part. He caught once or twice a season and played DH occasionally, but he was usually an outfielder.

I know people will say catcher, but he gave up catching duties almost completely when he made it to the major leagues.

He caught two games in '93 and '94, but I wouldn't call that his position. It's like calling Cirillo a pitcher because he threw for an inning last night.

In '94, he was primarily in the OF, 41 of 43 games played, and the same can be said for '95, 17 of 37 games played. He was utilized mostly as a DH in '96 and took over 1B duties in '97, which has been the only defensive position he has played since.

He was catcher for his first few years then switched between left field and 1st base before becoming the everyday 1st baseman
