Yes, but you know, many people like a good conspiracy theory. So I guess it's all a cover-up by the freemasons :o)

Depends on your point of view. It has astonished mathematicians to learn how many of nature's phenomena are governed by simple mathematical rules, from the shape of a pinecone to the height of a tree. Many people believe that secrets are encoded through numbers not just in nature, but also in books, either by the ancients or by God himself. This is a significant part of Kabbalah, the mystical jewish sect. Tough to prove them right or wrong, though I'm reminded of the famous cautionary words about statistics. If you look hard enough, you can find numbers anywhere and make them mean anything you want them to.

Actually, it's still alive and well - perhaps not that particular book, but the use of biblical numerology is still prevalent on certain Christian TV shows, and books are still being sold.

But, you're right. It's an attempt to combine numerology with Christianity to make numerology palatable to Christians. That gives numerologists a huge market that they have not found easy to penetrate before. There is no doubt in my mind that it is done for money, and only for money.

Since it was originally written by numerous author's over a couple hundred years and has been rewritten an re-translated hundreds of times I say there could only have been a code inserted in one of the translations and what worth does that have? None.

Pretty much. I saw a program where the same type of code was applied to Moby Dick and the outcome was just about the same. One can find a "code" in just about any book...
