it's done on a sensor on the gear box / electronic management system ( little black box) usually fitted at the dealers if this was bought as second hand then it was most probably a company car before, if new you have a £200 free be. to do it on a Astra simply go to a dealer.

Did you buy the car new? If you bought it used, is it possible that the owner just didn't give you the remotes? While your at it, why not put an alarm system on it. They will handle the installation process for you. Hopefully, you have a button on the driver's door that you can push and lock all the doors. If not, then the actuators will have to be installed which is more expense. The price will depend on the alarm system and the amount of labor to install. A 4 dr will be more than a 2 dr. because they will require more parts and labor.

I wasn't aware that this was available on an corsa, but it's very common an all american cars. Every car I've hired in the states for the last 20 years has this feature. I also drive a new Corsa occasionally and it doesn't have this. Maybe it's an extra that he didn't know about.

He's not squeezing the key too much is he? If you switch on and then press any of the remote buttons on the key it re-synchronises the key and central locking, and exercises the locks to show success.
