OR just let Windows do the repair work for you:

I think I had the same virus not too long ago. Check your "Startup" folder to see what is supposed to run automatically every time Windows starts. Don't be surprised if there's something there you don't remember adding. This program is essentially re-running the script which includes the virus every time you restart your computer. Since it is actively running (with Task Manager disabled!) you cannot stop it or remove the icon from the startup folder....so here's what you do:

Get a copy of SpySweeper. Install it, and run it immediately. It has a function called "Startup Shield" where you can tell it what you want Windows to be able to start. Tell it not to run the script you found earlier, and restart your machine. Now you can fully remove the script and the icon from the Startup folder. Your Task Manager and other items will come back automatically, since the script is simply preventing them from running (it didn't delete them).

Hope this helps!

You can fix task manager with this:

at a command prompt (cmd.exe assuming it still works) type:

REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

delete the space i put between the slash and the "W" from "windows" - it wouldn't fit otherwise.

The virus may have left regedt32.exe alone. You could try it that way too.
