A good ballpark figure is to add 30% to the price of the bike, including the shipping charges. This will cover import duty, VAT and brokerage fees. An SVA test and registration will set you back around £1,000.

So, as an example, let's say you buy the bike for £5,000. It will cost around £1,000 to get it shipped over. Duties, VAT and brokerage charges will add £1,800 to that.

So your £5k bike will cost an extra £3,800 to get shipped over here and on the road. Doesn't really seem worthwhile, does it...?
