This is one of those things that over the years people have allowed to become something it's not. It should be for both, girls used to MAKE their Valentine cards, guys normally brought flowers and candy. Chocolate was very expensive years ago, and so were flowers in February. If the girl did make or give a gift it was never to elaborate or expensive because she wanted to be considered good marriage material. Being a big spender did not fit into that well. Yet for the men it was a way of showing they could afford a wife. (not that they did). Now days it's a way to get in our pockets male or female.

You have a new out look king sparta: The idea is we guys are to impress the girls in our lives, the girls already do that by being girls and with us. And king old boy LOVE is a two way street, or it should be.

I don't know the answer to your question but it is definitely a Catholic holiday....for Saint Valentine. St. Patrick's is a Catholic holiday as well. So is May 1st for St. Joseph.

thats wierd...4 me...me and my bf exchange gifts...i think its known s a girls holoiday is because girls r more sensitive and its the holiday of love....it would be really nice if girls just got the present..but then i would feel guilty..hope this helped

your soooo right!!!!!!!!! im a girl but for valentines day i also spent money on my husband and everyone kept telling me that he should spend money on me and only me!! absurd! i wanted to treat him too you know, men have feelings. my husband appreciated that and he loved my gifts. besides its not like he didnt spend ALOT more on me which he did.

well, i think if you're one of those superficial females that's into expensive handbags and diamonds, then i can understand your point. but i know tons of girls that absolutely hate valentine's day.
