I haven't read any books for a while and I would really like to start again, however I really need one to be recommended to me because there are SO many to choose from! I like books with some mystery, some fantasy, and I really like forbidden romances or just some romance in general. Any suggestions please???

'A Dirty Job' or 'Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal'; both by Christopher Moore. Really funny and entertaining reads.

John Ringo's new series is pretty good for mystery, thrills, romance and action:
GHOST
KILDAR
CHOOSERS OF THE SLAIN
UNTO THE BREACH
Mysteries try James Doss, John Dunning, Stuart Woods
Thrillers, Matthew Reilly, Jack DuBrul, Paul Christopher, James Rollins.
Fantasy, Dennis L. McKiernan, Raymond Feist, Eric Flint's new alternate history series is great and so is S.M.Stirling's who also has one book Conquistador which is an alternate world book with a sequel soon to come. Have fun.

Jeffery Deaver, Dennis Lehane, David Morrell and Lee Child, in my opinion they are the best thriller writers in the business!! I am a avid reader in this genre and have read Coben, King, Koontz, F. Paul Wilson, Connelly, and many others but none can touch these authors I've listed! The Deaver book I've just finished reading now is "The Sleeping Doll"--a brand new release and has literally keeped me up at nights!! I'm quite sure you'll love his other thrillers as well, such as "The Bone Collector", "A Maiden's Grave", "The Coffin Dancer", "Praying For Rain", "Cold Moon", "The Twelveth Card", "The Vanished Man", "Devil's Tear Drop" et el. For Lehane, start with "A Drink Before War" (don't let the title fool you) then "Darkness Take My Hand", "Sacred", "Gone, Baby Gone", "Prayers For Rain", "Shutter Island" and "Mystic River." For Lee Child, you can start with his first and move forward, but it's Ok if you don't. Some personal favs are: "One Shot", "Trip Wire", "Hard Luck and Trouble"--a new release, "The Persuader"-my personal fav, "The Hard Way", but they are all page turners! Also, last but definately not least is David Morrell. All his books are good, but I especially enjoy his last two releases "Creepers" and "Scavenger" which are guaranteed page-turners. Enjoy, Greg

I'm thinking you'd love Janet Evanovick's Stephan Plum series. Each novel has a number in the title making it easy to tell which to read next. (currently there are 13 ,and two un numbered in the mystery series) lots of humor, and some romance, animals and blown up cars. Great reads. JE also write romance novels, but I've never read any of them.

This year I'm into dragons. Right now I'm reading Throne of Jade (Temeraire series by Naomi Novik). Before that I read the Age of Fire books by E E Knight & DragonKin(first book) by Robin Wayne Bailey(need to still read the 2nd and 3rd).

For fantasy overall, I enjoyed Terry Brooks' "Kingdom of Landover" series, it's 5 books about a rich businessman who purchases a magical realm from a magazine. They're enjoyable.

I think I, Mona Lisa by Jeanne Kalogridis would be a good book for you. It's about 500 pages, so I don't know if you mind the length.

It's a great book. It's a fictional novel about Mona Lisa. You'd love it because it definitely has mytery and forbidden romance. It also has tradegy and conspiracy. It's one of my favorites!
