Somebody help me out here.

Pink made a song that was all like 'yeah. girl power. just you and your hand since i turned you down [wink wink] don't objectify me you dirty rat.'

Then the video comes out. How does posing in various costumes have anything to do with this song? I'm thinking, wow. How is she going to do this in a video, then the video comes out and...uh...what was that song about?

Did I miss something? Was she trying to be ironic with the whole 'don't objectify me' angle, then committing the video to objectifying herself?

first of all I love Pink, I think she's a great song writer and a good role model for strong young girls....that said she's also in an industry that likes to make money, lol. In order to promote this great song she had to make a catchy, sexy video - that's the nature of the beast. You're thinking too hard, as rebellious as she might be, she also has to fall in line in some respect if she wants to sell her songs and albums. When I watched the video I took it to mean she's teasing the guy in those hot outfits -- but in the end she says 'f*uck you, you still can't have me." If you want a Pink video that is more true to form, watch the "stupid girls" video. I don't put much stock in today's videos for the simple fact most of them are just vehicles to get attention for the song/album itself. I listen to the lyrics of the artist, to get their real message.

You make a very good point. I think the video was probably not her idea. Sometimes performers have to go along with record executive's ideas. I am sure some man thought a sexy video would sell more records - especially since she was basically thumbing her nose at men in the song. That could drive away sales (among the male population), so they had to do something. . .

the song's is saying that she tired of dumb boys being around her and she just wants some guys with substance. She wants to dance with herself without some guy harrassing her .. it's not really about i turned u down.
i think the video did have something to do with the song.. i mean it wasn't random
Did you see the writing that was in the book she was reading? i think that has the connection :)
hope it helps
p.s. pink rocks! she's 1 of my role models! so diff from the other girls!

I guess I don't understand you line of questioning on this song. The song is about (or how I look at it) being taken advantage of by men (gee, how unique) and she says "I'm not here for your entertainment, I was fine b4 you walked into my life........it's over b4 it began, etc. etc. That's my take on it. In any event I really like that song, but I don't really care for the video.

I agree with Camilla above me.
Sometimes they are left with so many options and sometimes they might not like any, but they have no other choice.
She has to make it attractive to society so she can sell her album. So, it doesn't necessarily mean she was contradicting herself.
