I automatically thought of these three upon reading your question: "Sometimes (I wish)" by Dallas Green, "Seven Days" by Mary j Blige and "Hard to Explain" by the Strokes. Maybe the lyrics in some of them dont suit it but I think the tone in them really match up, but that could just be my opinion.
