ordered pizza tonight and well i was just randomly wondering...
why DO they put those plastic table thingys on top of pizzas?
when did this start and originate?
lol this is always something i have wondered

I first remembered seeing them on Pizza Hut pizzas to keep the top of the pizza carton from coming down on the pizza and getting cheese and toppings all over the place. Just a fun little note, when I used to babysit, we would use these little tables as tables for our Barbie dolls.

Well, you know, I think it's more popular in the US, due to the size of your pizzas. A medium pizza in the UK is about 12" across. When I ordered a medium pizza on a visit to the US, it was the size of the table I ate it off, LOL. So you guys really need those little gadgets!
What do you do with them afterwards? Can you recycle them? There must be a way of reusing them or making them into art of some kind!

Those little plastic tables help to keep the top of the pizza box from crushing the pizza and ruining all of the pizza toppings! My daughter loves those plastic little tables because she plays with them and uses them for her Barbies,lol.

The little tables are to keep the lid of the box from coming down and squishing the pizza and getting toppings everywhere. As to where they originated, I have no clue.

So when you open the box, the topping stays on the pizza and not upside down on the lid!!!

It keeps the lid from getting stuck and pulling all the cheese off when you open it.
Great for little kids, we used to use them with our toys as tables.
