This is obviously subjective, but I think that it is a toss up between Babe Ruth (because he was incredible at both hitting and pitching) and Willie Mays (because was probably the most "complete" player in terms of the five "tools" - hitting, hitting for power, running, throwing, and catching). Any thoughts? If you agree with me, please indicate who you think was better between Ruth and Mays.

Willie Mays, you already said it, the most complete player ever, there was nothing he couldn't do.

shiloh,

you are drunk, if you think clemente was the best of all time. he was a great player; no doubt. however, his career was cut too short, in order for him to compete in that category.

the willie mays answer is to easy. everyone says that. i have to say that i am not sure, who the best player is. for the moment i will have to go with the say hey kid, because he was a five tool player....the bread basket catch is legendary.

stand by, though. i have to think about this much more....

I saw Mays play a lot and the best player I ever saw was Roberto Clemente.
