The reason your experiencing excessive brake dust is Ford still uses semi- and full metallic brake pads. Eventually you'll be PO'd enough to switch to either organic based or ceramic disc pads.
If you've ever noticed Toyota's never have crap on their aluminum wheels. The reason is their standard pads from the factory are organic based. The real beauty is they will not eat-up the brake rotors and they never grind, squeal or vibrate.
Premium ceramic pads are almost as good as far as cleanliness go. Both Ceramic and organic pads stop as well or better than full or semi-metallic.

The black grime on your rims is probably brake dust. They wear very slowly, but do put some dust out. Easy way to take care of it is getting a brush and some rim cleaner. Scrub them good, and when clean add some wheel/rim wax to the rims. This will make future cleanup easier.

It is break dust. I like to swap out OEM brake pads with a bit nicer ones from the local hardware store. They last longer, work better, and don't create as much of that brake dust.

It is the brake pads, that is what they do when they wear.
They are still good for servoce, but they will give your rims a nice coating of brown crap.
All you need is a spray on rim cleaner, and a pressure washer.
Rinse them off, and you can apply a thin coating of wax to aid in this in the future.

Brake dust is one way of telling sooner or later you need a brake job. So every thing seems to be OK. Stop by a place with a air hose and blow it off that way.

Next time, get the ceramic brake pads. It is the brake dust that you see. Cheap pads do that.
Good luck!
