Sad. Truly sad. I'm a parent and it's tough getting kids to eat but when McD's is what we serve them we are in heap big trouble. My only hope is that eating out was a treat for the child and that he/she usually has healthy meals the rest of the week. I'm guessing not, though, looking at the size of kids these days.

yeah, my son gets a Happy Meal maybe once every 2 or 3 months (and it's always about the toys). We go there only for ice cream even less, I think in his 3.5 years, I've gotten him an ice cream at McDonalds 2 times.

Hey its not your kid and therefore why do you care. Too many people are here saying that the child is fat or unhealthy. Being skinny does not mean you are healthy, I know people who are skinny and only eat candy, and chips. I also know people who are "fat" who eat relatively healthy meals. The big issue here to me is why do so-many people feel they need to get involved with what we feed our kids or ourselves. Does ones weight affect to you in any way?: Its the ones who are saying fat, fat,fat they are partially to blame for the `10 and 11 year old girls and BOYS who develop anorexia, bulimia and use diet pills. Obviously the mother was having lunch with her son, and promised him if he ate his burger he could have and ice cream, maybe it was a treat for them to be there. Maybe it was his birthday or he was celebrating something good. Just because they chose Mickey D's does not mean hes fat, or she is a bad mom. Get over it. a bad mom would have said no your not eating tonight, so go to bed hungry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it's bargaining, bribing, whatever, but when you're a parent you learn to pick your battles and sometimes you're just wore out and if you can just get the kid to eat the damn burger then you'll give him what he really wants, the ice cream, of course!!

First you take your kid to Mcdonalds which you know isn't healthy for them. You pay for their meal so they must eat so you don't waste your money which probably isnt much since your eating at Mcdonalds in the first place. So you bribe your child by offering something else that isn't healthy for them which goes back to your parenting skills.

Forcing a child to eat when they're not hungry can lead to childhood (and adult) obesity. If the child didn't want to eat their hamburger because they wanted ice cream, then I could understand it.

Eating out is okay sometimes and if I chose to eat out he would definitley eat the burger first. Sometimes you have to promise a dessert to get them to eat.

just because sombody eats some mcdonalds doesnt make them fat. There is nothing wrong with making the kid eat the food before he gets the desert

Um,, sounds fine to me. May not be the healthiest meal, but the kid needs actual food, not just ice cream.
