Muhammad murdered tens of thousands of people. He led unprovoked raids of pure plunder and massacre on villages that refused to recognize him as a prophet. His followers would kill the men, keep the women they liked, and sell the rest of the women and the children into slavery. Muhammad was part Blackbeard part Charles Manson.
This is a matter of historical record - none of this is deniable.
Why is it offensive to state it?
Why is it a Yahoo Answers violation to state it?
What does the fact that he founded a religion have to do with it? If John Wayne Gacy had founded a religion, would it be offensive to call him a serial killer?

outcrop I addressed this - I have no problems with facts - - my problem with the media's coverage of Dean is that they predicted MORE storms and we got FEWER but the one we've had so far is strong so they report THAT, as if that were a stand-in - so they could have SOME change to point to.

beardog, but if my mother had had intercourse with a nine year old, that would make her a pedophile and it would not be offensive to say so.
She didn't - but Muhammad did.

truthteller most of the details about Muhammad's violent spread of Islam, and about his relations with a nine year old, are right in the Hadiths.

Alias, you're right about the Popes, but their actions and statements were in direct contrast to that religion's founder.
But, I grew up Catholic and, actually they are intolerant in the main.
But we're not looking to rationalize beheadings by pointing out that some people have intolerant personal views.....

It should not be considered offensive. We would not consider any atrocity committed by a Jew or a Christian offensive if it were talked about. The Islams have become bullies and demanding that they have the right to never be offended. Try finding that in our constitution.

I'm not disputing your question, but their are alot of people in history, and even today that have another side.History will more often than not come from a biased perspective.Ex.Christopher Columbus was credited for discovery of America, when in fact he was lost thinking he was far east, when he actaully was west.He is remembered as a hero, when his praise was at the expense of the massacring of many Indian tribes.Look from other's point of view.Every religion hac hypocritical things surrounding it.God is a spirit which cannot be contained in a box

To answer your question, yes facts are offensive to certain people.
To people that choose to cover up those facts, or wish to whitewash them. Those people become offended when you speak the fact as it was w/o the white wash.
Also people that base a belief which is NOT based in facts also find facts inconvenient and downright offensive.
Keep up the fight!
Beat them over the head with facts.
If that doesn't work, slash their tires with Truth.
If they still don't come around reiterate the facts.
If they still refuse truth, then I say wash your hands and move on.
Those with ears will hear.

Thruth- It would more factual AND offensive to say Muhammad never existed. Just like Jesus, Moses, God, Allah, The Devil, a Sober Red Sox Fan, Santa Clause, The Easter Bunny, the Boogy Man, and a Compassionate Conservative never existed either.

It's not "historical record". It's your VERSION of historical record, which you have cherry-picked out of context, without scholarship, so that you can slander another person's religion, thereby causing him/her to get very pissed off at you, thereby inciting further hatred in the world, for no good reason whatsoever since all this crap happened 1600 years ago.
Should we talk about the Christian Spanish and their slaughter of the Indian? Should we talk about the Catholic priests and their brutal tortures? Shall we talk about the ethnic cleansing of the US Army in the western outposts of America? Shall we talk about the Christian slave holders and dealers and their Biblical justifications?
Why keep churning this up? What is the point?
ALL religions can be hijacked and used for evil. It's easy and it happens all the time. The ancient Persians chopped off the Greeks noses in the name of God. So are you pissed at the Iranians for this?

Yes, sometimes facts are offensive. It's got less to do with the accuracy of the information, and more to do with the spirit in which it is delivered. There are unpleasant truths in the world, and no shortage of rude people who delight in delivering bad news. Your mother has had sexual intercourse. That's an obvious fact, but would you enjoy hearing about it in graphic detail? Probably not.

The papacy was a den of corruption and promulgated all sorts of violence against "pagans" for centuries.
Now what was just gained in my stating this fact?
I don't believe for one moment that Catholics (or other Christians) are corrupt, blood-thirsty, or intolerant in the main.
So, what's YOUR point?

And how about the Bible?
The Bible says that wearing clothing made of different cloth is punishable by stoning, likewise working on the Sabbath. Stoned to death. On the bright side, you could just sell your daughters into slavery, the Bible is okay with that.
All religions are stupid hocus-pocus BS fairy tales for dimwitted people with the mind of children.

Facts themselves are not offensive. How they are sometimes presented (the language, the context, the tone...) may be offensive, but not the facts themselves.
